These declines were largely driven by losses in major technology stocks, including Nvidia, Tesla, and Microsoft. Tesla's stock fell 5% ahead of an anticipated delivery report, while Nvidia's stock decreased by 2.1%. 

Despite Friday's downturn, the S&P 500 achieved a modest gain for the week and is on track for its second consecutive annual gain of over 20%, a first since 1997-1998. 

Looking ahead, investors are preparing for potential market volatility as the year-end period is historically unpredictable. Upcoming economic data releases, including reports on home sales, construction spending, and manufacturing activity, are anticipated to provide further insights into the market's direction.
