Repo Rate



It is the interest rate at which the banks borrow money from the central bank (RBI)


Repo rate stands for "repurchase option rate".


It is the cost that a bank has to pay to borrow money from the RBI.


Central banks use this to control inflation in the economy.


By changing the repo rate, the central banks can increase or decrease the money supply in the economy.

RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting has started. Interest rate related decisions will be announced on 6th Dec.


Indian Railways provides a total subsidy of Rs 56,993 crore every year to all passengers, including a 46% rebate on every ticket: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.


The limit for UPI Lite has been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 per transaction: RBI.


Fairfax India is buying an additional 10% shareholding in Bangalore International Airport for $255 million (Rs 2,160 crore). Germany's Siemens (seller) will no longer be a shareholder.

What does that mean?


Let’s say you own a house worth Rs 50 lakh. You want to sell it in May 2025.


Right now, its price is Rs 50 lakh. In March 2025, it falls to Rs 40 lakh. In May 2025, it goes back up to Rs 50 lakh.
